Marina Vargas
Granada, Spain, 1980.
Lives and works in Madrid.
She has a degree in Fine Arts (2003), University of Granada and a master's degree in production and research in art from the same university (2011).
Her work resignifies the iconography of art and visual culture to offer new meanings with which to draw attention to the power of images and deconstruct the heteropatriarchal vision that has dominated the History of Art.
Her commitment to the feminist cause is absolute, and her research is a constant reflection on the patterns and canons that have so determined our ways of looking, becoming questioned and revised, proposing other readings and new questions. The autobiographical references are one of the starting points to develop a transgressive discourse, unconventional, in which issues related to our own cultural heritage are present.
